The apple juice and maple sausage create a wonderful blend of flavors for a breakfast dish that's truly a comfort food.


  • 1lb maple-flavored ground sausage
  • 1 Large onion (chopped)
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup apple juice (or cider)
  • 12 slices bread
  • 6 Large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
  • 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 9"x13" baking pan.
Cook and crumble sausage in a skillet over medium-hight heat. Drain.
Add chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and apple juice to sausage in skillet. Stir and cook over medium-high heat until the apple juice completely evaporates.
While apple juice simmers away, cut bread into cubes. Spread over bottom of 9"x13" pan.
Whisk eggs. Add milk, mustard, and hot sauce. Whisk together until well blended.
Spoon sausage mixture evenly over bread.
Pour egg mixture over bread and sausage.
Place all cheese on top.
Bake for 35-40 minutes.
