Cookies for a Snowy Day

The snow lays soft. Cherished, much-anticipated flakes drifting . . . dancing gently to the ground. The world is still and covered in white. Our dog sits quiet . . . watching.

For the beauty of the earth . . .

Beautiful scenes to lock in our memory. Beautiful memories to lock in our hearts.

Days when schools are closed and beloved children are home. Happy days! Together days! Play days! Days of rest. And yes, days of a little homework too. But all is well when hearts are home.

Perfect days for fires blazing in the fireplace, candles burning, blankets to curl up in, thick sweaters to snuggle into, favorite movies to get lost in, board games for laughter and fun, building snowmen, making forts, and baking cookies!

Here’s a link to a recipe for Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies by Sally over at Sally’s Baking Addiction

We made this recipe on a snow day last year. Here’s what my son said about these cookies:

“These may be the best cookies I’ve ever had. They’re definitely up there.”

Cake mix & sprinkles make this cookie delicious and “happy.”

Sally passed along a great tip for making sure cookies are thicker and puffier . . . just the way I like them! The secret is to create tall cookie dough balls! It works. I will never scoop cookie dough any other way.

What’s a cookie without a little milk to wash it down with. Better yet, how about some hot chocolate to warm your family on the inside. Nothing’s better than coming in from a cold, blustery day to a steaming cup of hot chocolate.

Here’s a link to my favorite recipe for creamy, dreamy White Hot Chocolate.

Keep your hearts and homes warm and toasty. Enjoy these days with the ones you love. These moments are precious.

I loved the way you described these magical days, Lisa. And great pics, too. They made me smile as I can picture those exact spots and have met those beautiful animals. You need to capture a good one of Banjo! Hee Haw!
