One Way God Makes Himself Real to Us

Print Friendly

God wants us to know him. I mean he wants us to really, really know him. If he wants us to know him, then it’s easy to assume that he also wants to make himself known. See my post for more on the goal God wants every Christian to have.

Since God wants us to know him, he reveals himself to us in beautiful ways. One of the ways he does this is through nature (creation).

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Romans 1:20

“The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.” Psalm 29:3-4

“O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves . . .” Psalm 65:5-7

“Oh Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.” Psalm 104:24

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out to all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4

“He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” Psalm 147:4-5

“When I look up into the night skies and see the work of your fingers – the moon and the stars you have made – I cannot understand how you can bother with mere puny man, to pay any attention to him!” Psalm 8:3-4

“He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes. He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand its icy blast?” Psalm 147:16-17

“The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.” Psalm 33:6

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.” Jeremiah 32:17

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” Isaiah 40:28

“O Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. He wraps hImself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.” Psalm 104:1-3

“Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” Isaiah 40:26

God is real. He is here. He is now. He is good. He adores you. And he is super ridiculously powerful! The evidence is all around you. Let that knowledge sink in and allow it to comfort you – especially if it feels like your world is falling apart right now.

Thanks for stopping in. Come back soon. I’ll leave the light on for you.
