Helping You Keep Up With Your Exercise Routine

Biking in Switzerland

Did you make a new year’s resolution to begin an exercise routine? How’s it going? If you’re struggling, read on. I have a couple of things that might help you!

They say it takes about six weeks to make something an ingrained habit. We’re about seven weeks into the new year. Have you followed through with your commitment? If so . . . way to go!! If not . . . don’t give up!

Fitness and wellness are so important to your quality of life. Stay in the game!

Accountability

Accountability is a real boost when it comes to following through with a commitment to exercise.

Last spring break, we planned a ski trip – the first one in years. We were all super excited to get back to the mountains.

My husband established one condition before booking the trip. Everyone had to agree to exercise regularly to make certain we were fit once we reached the slopes. The point was to be able to enjoy each day, reduce the risk of injury, and have the endurance necessary to get the most out of each day.

So we all committed to exercise and held each other accountable through texts.

Texting was really fun and kept us all on our toes.

TB: I swam for 30 minutes this morning.

CB: Wow! Nice!

MB: I ate 4 Krispy Kreme donuts.

TB: I don’t think that counts as working out. Remember you have to fit into those ski pants of yours.

Another day:

CB: Went to the rec yesterday, tennis this morning and now a cardio video with the pixie (a friend)!

MB: Whoop! I played volleyball last night – lol

TB: Nice! That’s awesome. Where at Dad? And I went swimming again this morning.

LB: You guys are kicking booty! Way to go family! Working this morning. Got to work out later.

Of course a trainer provides great accountability, but this is much more fun – and cheaper!

Music to Motivate You

Finally - 15 songs from my infamous running playlist. Yes – they’re all worship songs. There’s nothing like worship music to get you going and keep you going. They inspire me, pump me up, and make running fun!

Although I likely look ridiculous, I have to admit I’m an unashamed worship runner. Don’t tell anyone, but I may or may not sing out loud on occasion, and sometimes lift my hands into the air as I make my way across the pavement. Yeah. Completely unashamed.
