Decorating a Cozy Autumn Porch 2012

Print Friendly

Hello fellow traveler! Come on in and sit awhile. It’s the third week of Melissa’s Fall Nesting Series over at The Inspired Room. This week the theme is “decorating mantels and porches.” When you’re finished here, go on over and check out some other blog posts for more ideas.

Today, I’m going to show you what I’ve done with my porch. Honestly, I’ve never been very good with porches (and my front “porch” isn’t much more than a little alcove) but I think this one turned out okay.

I decorated this little ladder for my porch. Didn’t really know what to do with it. Wound a Fall garland around it, tied on some corn, and added a bittersweet wreath. I can actually say, “I love it.”

I put a colorful, nature wreath on the door.

Added some other goodies . . . pumpkin, lantern, and a mum. I didn’t have a cool container for the mum so I just wrapped the base with some leftover burlap I had lying around and tied it with twine.

Done! When a guest arrives at my home, I want them to get a warm feeling about being here even before I open the door. I want them to feel like they’ve arrived at a place where they are welcome and at home.

Cinderella pumpkins are my favorite! This beauty sits on my back porch.

A porch is

a place you come home to . . .

a place you retreat to . . .

a place you come back to over and over again.

Come back soon. I’ll leave the welcome mat out and the porch light on for you.
